Here are some photos from today in the Cathedral at Aberdeen with the children from Holy Family, St Joseph’s and St Peters Primary schools and with the Religious at St Mary’s House where they had lunch and a meeting with Bishop Hugh.
Bishop Hugh said:
“Today the Church does several things: she commemorates the presentation of the child Jesus in the Temple of Jerusalem 40 days after his birth, she blesses the candles that will be used at the liturgy, symbols of Christ our Light, and she give thanks to God too for the gift of the consecrated life of religious women and men. These three things are all interwoven. The religious of the diocese gathered with Bishop Hugh, and a good number of children from the 3 Catholic Primary Schools of Aberdeen added their voices and their candles to the celebration. Afterwards they had a chance to meet with the religious. My hope is that we were able to encourage one another in the offering we all want to make of our lives, with Mary and Jesus to God the Father.”
