Arrangements for the Annual Diocesan Pilgrimage In Honour of Our Lady on Sunday 25 June 2017 are being finalised, and we are looking forward to another pleasurable day, which is enjoyed by parishioners, clergy and religious, coming together from all corners of the Diocese to join in celebration of the occasion. The event itself provides a perfect opportunity for relaxing in the grounds of Pluscarden Abbey, with the chance to meet people from other parishes within the Diocese.
At the conclusion of the Mass, which will be led by Bishop Hugh Gilbert, there will be a Marian procession to the garden in front of St Benedict’s Retreat, weather permitting of course. We look forward to the participation of a good number of parishes in the day’s liturgy, particularly in the singing and readings of the Mass, also during the procession into the garden. The programme for the day will be as follows.
- 1.00pm – Exposition in the Lady Chapel until 3.00pm
- 1.00pm – Individual confessions available in the parlours at St. Benedict’s Retreat until 3.00pm
- 3.30pm – Principal Mass of the day (please note the time) followed by a Marian procession, with hymns and devotions in the garden facing St Benedict’s Retreat.
An invitation is extended to you and all members of your congregation, including any altar servers and young people who would like to join in the Mass and the procession which follows. It would be useful if all clergy attending could remember to bring an alb and white Diocesan stole and chasuble / dalmatic as applicable, also for servers to bring their own cassocks and surplices, and Guild of St. Stephen medal. We would encourage parishes to take along any banners they may have, as this will add colour to the occasion. A prompt start is of course anticipated.
