Violinist Michael Grube returns to Pluscarden Abbey

Professor Michael Grube returns to perform at Pluscarden Abbey on Monday 21st August at 7pm, with a programme which connects Bach and Paganini to contemporary music by Gerhard Track and Max-Ludwig Grube.  

Programme:

  • Johann Stamitz (1717 – 1757) – Tanec (courtly dance) in D major
  • Pietro Rovelli (1793 – 1838) – Caprice No. 8 in G major
  • Niccolo Paganini (1782 – 1840) – Caprice No. 17 in E-flat major
  • Gerhard Track (composed in 2016) – “For Eugénie” (1934 Vienna)
  • Jacques F. Mazas (1782 – 1849) – 2 Etudes for violin solo
  • Max-Ludwig Grube (1925 – 1994) – Sonata No. 3 (“Yánez-Sonata”)
  • J. S. Bach (1685 – 1750) – Sonata No. 2 in a minor (BWV 1003)
