The Polish-speaking community at Sacred Heart, Torry, Aberdeen, warmly invites Polish speakers to the following Advent Cenacles held every Thursday at 16:30, each preparing for the upcoming Christmas.
1st Advent Cenacle – Before the 1st Sunday of Advent
Traditional Polish preparations for Advent: the Advent Rose, Light of Vigil, Jesse’s Rod, Hay of Good Deeds, and the introduction of a Travelling Statue of Our Lady. Family guidance and children’s craft activities included.
2nd Advent Cenacle – Before the 2nd Sunday of Advent
Writing Letters to the Christ Child (Dzieciątko Jezus), making simple Christmas ornaments, and preparing small Christmas gifts. Ongoing family guidance and craft activities for children.
3rd Advent Cenacle – Before the 3rd Sunday of Advent
A youth-focused meeting held in homes on St. Lucy’s Day, with Scripture reflection, vocational themes, creating an Advent crib, and reflecting on the Travelling Statue of Our Lady.
A priest is available for Confessions on this date.
4th Advent Cenacle – Before the 4th Sunday of Advent
A community preparation evening: summary of the Advent journey, Christmas crafts for children, and shared family traditions. Includes guidance for the domestic liturgy for Christmas Eve.
Additionally, we are considering organising a Parish Christmas Eve (Wigilia) celebration on 24 December, pending the approval of the parish priest.
All gatherings are designed to support the spiritual and family life of Polish-speaking people and to integrate traditional practices into the life of the parish.
