On 19 September (at St Francis, Mannofield, Aberdeen) and on 26 September (Greyfriars Convent, Elgin) we will be exploring the joy of music in the Liturgy.

Both day programmes are designed to be of interest to singing parishioners, choir leaders, organists and instrumentalists as well as priests and deacons. You are all most welcome.

Bishop Hugh will be presenting along with representatives from the National Liturgical Commission of the Bishops’ Conference of Scotland. Local contributions will be made by James Greechan, Director of Cathedral Music, Aberdeen; John Horton, who teaches liturgical music in our three city Catholic schools; David and Liz Meiklejohn, Dr Roger Williams and Dr Shelagh Noden.

While historical and theoretical aspects of liturgical music will be touched on, we hope to engage with your experiences of parish liturgical music and together identify resources, especially in the areas of hymns and Mass settings. We look forward to learning about liturgical music in your parishes, however small, and exploring together how we can support each other. We will conclude with singing evening prayer together.
