Via Crucis – An Artist’s Way of the Cross

Looking for a new resource for Lent? This beautiful PowerPoint takes you through the Stations of the Cross and offers a moving interpretation of “the Redeemer’s hands at the end of his life, those hands which began life in Bethlehem and ended in Jerusalem.

The images are taken from Caroline Coate’s exhibition that took place during Lent 2004 in the complex of the Oratories of Santa Barbara, Sant’Andrea and Santa Silvia al Celio in Rome. The artist chose to concentrate on the hands of Christ, and of other “characters”, at successive moments on his journey to Calvary, portraying the hands in terracotta bas relief, alongside life-sized drawings of each Station of the Cross.
