On Friday, 27th June, the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, at St Mary’s Cathedral, Aidan Charles Matheson was ordained priest by Bishop Hugh Gilbert.

A large number of priests from various parts of the diocese and beyond concelebrated, including Fr Aidan’s former parish priest, Fr Colin Stewart. Several of Fr Aidan’s fellow seminarians from the Scots College, Rome, attended the ceremony, and the Gospel was sung by Deacon Kieran Burt. The cathedral was full, with family and friends of the new priest, and others from many parts of the diocese. Music for the liturgy was chosen by Fr Aidan and performed by St Mary’s Cathedral Choir.
